My work revolves around a variety of themes, but perhaps the most present being the identity concerns that come with having traveled and experienced many different cultures from birth. My experiences with constantly having to build new “lives” in new places has been one of the most important influences on my work.
Like all filmmakers I am fascinated by storytelling and communicating through image and story. I am primarily a writer/director, but I also enjoy camera work. I have also produced and assistant-directed a handful of short films.
I was born in Zimbabwe, and raised in Mozambique. Growing up I also lived in Florida, and France, and I currently live in Vancouver, Canada. I am the product of a marriage between a Mozambican third-generation Pakistani immigrant father and a Dutch mother, who was raised in Mozambique as well.
